Evira on julkaissut harrastuskalastajille ohjeistuksen IHN-viruksen torjuntaan. Virus leviää sairaiden kalojen, oireettomien kantajien ja ympäristön välityksellä. Virusta kantavia kaloja on löytynyt neljästä paikasta. Taudin takia on myös jouduttu tyhjentämään Tervon kalanviljelylaitos.
